I have a wonderful family. They include Bruce, my dad, Lauretta, my mom, Alan and Craig, my brothers, and Laurie, my dear sister. Alan is married to Jodie and has a daughter Madeline. Craig is married to Tammy and has a daughter and a son, Sarah and Michael. Laurie is married to Chad and has three boys and one girl: Joel, Todd, Seth, and Hope.

The Schafer Family migrated north to Alan and Jodie's home in Minneapolis for the Thanksgiving Holidays. There was Mom and Dad, myself, Alan, Jodie, Madeline and ? Schafer, Craig, Tammy, Sarah, Michael, and ? Schafer, and Chad, Laurie, Joel, Todd, and Seth Keever. That's sixteen plus two on the way in one house. We enjoyed unseasonably mild weather, and way too much food that tasted incredible. We enjoyed playing with the nephews and nieces, with minor breaks for Madden and talking about life. Since the family lives far apart, we enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas together every other year. I received an Andrew Peterson CD, "The Far Country", and a headset. The little ones made out like bandits.

Every year we have a 4th of July reunion in Taylor, MO. Odd years are Rassi Reunions, while the Haerr Reunions are on the even years. We set up an eating tent, have games, tell stories, go swimming, water skiing, have a hayride, ride on the jetskis, play softball, croquet, basketball, or any other random game that involves some level of compitition. Of course we always have some giant fireworks and eat lots of great food.

Our family usually gets together for a vacation over the summer holiday, but we haven't been enywhere exotic in a long time. This summer, we spent a bit of time traveling around Hawaii before Alan and Jodie's marriage. We spent a lot of time on the beach and in the water.

On the 16th of May 2005, my brother Alan got married to Jodie in Maui, Hawaii. The wedding took place at the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort. The groom's dinner was at a great restaurant called Longhi's. It was nice to meet Jodie's family and some of their old friends.

Alan brought Jodie Burlog home for Easter for the family to meet her. She is a very special person, and fits quite nicely with our family. Laurie & Chad and their boys Joel, Todd, and Seth also came.
Easter Weekend

The whole family hadn't been to New Jersey in a long time, so we all hopped on jet planes and flew out to New Jersey to be with Craig, Tammy, and Sarah. We went up to New York City to visit my cousin Nelson Haerr, a NYC firefighter, and to visit the Big Apple. We went to Central Park, the Central Park Zoo, and ate at Times Square. We also met Nelson's then GF and now wife Max. Too keep our summer vacations preditable, he hung out, ate lots of good food, and stayed really close to the pool.

Christmas at Mom and Dad's house. Fourteen people and a whole lot of presents all under one roof. It was the first time in quite a while that we had no snow on Christmas. It was also Sarah and Todd's first Christmas.

The whole family got together at Chad and Laurie's house in Tremont for the first time. Besides just being together, we picked apples and made applesauce. After a few days in Tremont the family packed out bags and headed out to Taylor, MO for the traditional 4th of July reunion. Since it was quite warm, we spent quite a bit of time in the lake. Otherwise it was sports as usual, or sitting, eating and enjoying each others company.

The Schafer Family had a wonderful time on beautiful Lake Geneva in Wisconsin. A friend of ours let us use their cabin situated on a private beach area, so it was nice a peaceful. We played lots of croquet, bumper pool, ping-pong, and board games, as well as swam, went fishing, and water skied. Of course we had plenty of relaxation time to just talk and enjoy good food.

Craig and Tammy invited me to join them in Vail, CO during my spring break. We enjoyed a week skiing, snowboarding, and quality food. The weather was nice, but it wasn't the best for skiing. We had a great time in the fresh powder, when it came.
