About Me - Dan Schafer
I think that it would be belaboring the point if I restated my name, but I will for clarity. My name is Dan Schafer. I am currently enrolled in the Computer Science department of Purdue University at the Fort Wayne campus. My planned graduation date is still a little foggy, although I do know that it isn't going to be this year. I have 3 hard semesters left, and then only 2 classes to take one semester at a time. Prerequisites can really mess up a schedule. My schedule is a little odd, as I am taking both 400 and 100 level courses at the same time. I will basically be done with my associates and bachelors degree at the same time.
I'm part of Round Cover Design, a develpment team for Computer Science 360-Software Engineering and Computer Science 460-Capstone Design and Professional Practice. In conjunction with TrustBearer Labs we have worked hard to integrate the cryptographic framework provided by TrustBearer Labs into the open-source SquirrelMail Webmail client. Check out our latest press release describing our work.
I am looking forward to another work stage of a co-op program this summer with IT Hands, a web development company, as a Project Manager. It will be good to again work with the employees, complete quality projects, and to build lasting friendships.
Family is everything, and my family is wonderful. I am the youngest child of 4. I have 2 brothers: Alan, Craig, and 1 sister: Laurie. My mother and father are wonderful, and I think they keep falling in love each day. Either that, or as they get older they keep forgetting their disagreements. Alan is married to Jodie and they have one daughter Madeline with one unknown on the way. Craig is married to Tammy and they have 3 children: Sarah, Michael, and one more unknown. Laurie is married to Chad and they have 3 boys: Joel, Todd, and Seth, and one girl, Hope.
I enjoy handing out with my friends, and going on road-trips. The last road-trip that I went on was in a crowded van with 11 other people all the way out to Kansas City. We had a blast talking, taking pictures, getting to know each other, and making memories.
